Will Disney Make R-Rated Marvel Movies? CEO Weighs In

Doesn't really matter. Deadpool is Deadpool/of course R rated if you go by the source material. Other super heroes not so much and technically Deadpool isn't a super hero. As for Disney making R rated films in general, what have they done in the R rated category? I certainly can't remember nor can a lot of people as Disney is Disney.

Anyone who goes to a Marvel movie thinking "Oh look at the new disney film" Should be shot.

I've enjoyed most of the Marvel movies at their current ratings. If I didn't like the movie, changing the rating to R from PG-13, usually wouldn't make me enjoy the movie any more. That said, I think the bigger concern is the possibility of the "Deadpool" sequel lowering it's rating to PG-13. I read an interview from the crew recently, and they were actually excited about the possibility of Deadpool being restricted to less gore/nudity, and less swearing. That's got me nervous, since Deadpool is an anti-hero, so he isn't meant to be as clean as Captain America or Thor.

Oh, good lord...Why can't people just realize Deadpool was successful because it's a genuinely good R-rated property (not so much the movie, but in general)? It works for Deadpool. This doesn't mean everything should suddenly become R-rated.

That's fine, the more R rated heroes Disney has are getting TV shows which so far have been more adult oriented than the films anyway. It kind of works out.

Rated R movies are always the better route than doing a kiddie pg-13 movies IMO!!!!!!!!!

It's so frustrating that people want to suddenly hop on this bandwagon with hating on R-rated movies.

So......what, there's something wrong with R-rated movies now? What, we're devolving culturally? I like R-rated movies because I hate when I feel like something is being held back or watered down, I want the full-blown experience.

Deadpool was expected to be R rated because of it's original source content. The same isn't expected of the Marvel movies for the samereason.
Otherwise it would be force fed and be R just for the sake of it, and will likely be bad...

I think it's best if they don't upscale or downscale, the themes and violence etc. Just stick close to the source, that's what most originally fell in love with. Change that, and you get uproar :/ *cough* DragonBall Evolution *cough*

We are all entitled to our own opinions, but the fact of the matter is that a movie doesn't need to be rated r to be good. I love great violent r rated action movies (hello the raid! and kill bill!) but this is disney here. They don't think about just the ratings of the movies, they make properties that are tied into other things like merchandise too. It would be kind of hilarious if they made a r rated comic book movie and sold disney infinity toys for it though haha.

I would love to see an R-rated Marvel movie, but I don't want to see R for the sake of R. Give a movie the rating that the universe warrants rather than trying to force R-rated material in for the sake of hitting that mark. A movie like Captain America doesn't warrant an R-Rating, but another like Iron Man could because the main character is a womanizing lush to begin with.

I think sudden change of style mid-series could be pretty jarring. But I will be dissapointed if Infinity Wars is as light happyjokejoke as these other Marvel movies

In the end makers should just do what feels right. Even if DP benefit from R it doesn't mean every movie out there must turn into R. It's the same thing when vampire movies were everywhere and then later zombies. Or WW2.

why is quicksilver on that poster? Didn't he die at the end of Age of Ultron?

That sucks. Would have been cool to get some R-Rated ones. I guess we can just depend on Fox to deliver us some R-Rated ones.
