Why Elizabeth Olsen Isn't Calling Marvel To Return As Wanda

The actress mentions that she portrayed Scarlet Witch for almost a decade.

While it's probably safe to say Scarlet Witch pops back up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point--especially in a world of multiverses--actress Elizabeth Olsen isn't pining to return anytime soon. That's because she's "really proud" of her work as Wanda Maximoff already.

Olsen opened up with White Lotus actress Meghann Fahy over on Variety about playing Candy Montgomery in HBO's Love & Death before touching on Scarlet Witch. When asked about missing the opportunity to portray Wanda, Olsen replied: "No, I don't. I think it's been almost 10 years of playing her. And I've loved it.

"And I think the reason why I am not calling [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I'm really proud of what we were able to do. I think WandaVision was a really surprising opportunity. If someone were to tell me that I'm fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made."

This isn't the first time Olsen has stated she doesn't miss playing Scarlet Witch. In April, she told Variety that "I just did two years straight of it, so I think the break has been good for me." Olsen continues to express her desire to bring other characters to life in film and TV.

Last month, Olsen offered advice to any actor thinking about joining the MCU. She basically said they should only sign on for one project--that way they can see how they like the character before a long-term commitment.

As for the MCU, up next is Marvel's Secret Invasion starring Samuel L. Jackson on Disney+. That will be followed up with Loki Season 2 in October and The Marvels in theaters this November.
