Marvel Phase 5 And Phase 6: MCU Movies And TV Shows Coming And What We Know

The past few years have sped by, and with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's release, Phase 4 of the MCU is about to wrap up. However, between D23 and San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, we have a very good idea of what Marvel Studios and Disney+ have in story from the end of 2022 all the way until 2026. That's right, the next four years have already been laid out.

Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe--called The Multiverse Saga--will follow in the footsteps of other shows and movies dealing with the Multiverse: Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, What If...?, and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

So right after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes out, we're in Phase 5 territory. And that begins in 2023--or late 2022, depending on how you feel about a certain holiday special. But that's not all, we already know a few movies that are a part of Phase 6. And when D23 rolls around in September, we're going to know even more about the next phase of movies.

But for now, here's a listing of every TV series and movie within the MCU that's been confirmed and what we know about them all. This list of content runs until late-2025, and there are also a few movies and TV shows that don't have release dates yet. Check out everything in Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU.

James Gunn is writing and directing the Disney+ special, which will appear on the Disney streaming service this holiday. It will lead directly into GotG Vol. 3, and it will feature your favorite characters from the movie series. According to Gunn, it will introduce "one of the greatest MCU characters of all time."

The holiday special wasn't listed as part of Phase 5 during the Marvel panel at Comic-Con 2022; however, it comes out after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which ends Phase 4.

Season 1 of the Disney+ series opened up the multiverse to MCU fans. A trailer debuted at Comic-Con 2022, but will be show-exclusive. However, the trailer that aired featured Steve Rogers as Winter Soldier, a fight between Odin and Shang-Chi, Iron Man on Sakaar, and one episode based on Neil Gaiman's brilliant 1602 series.

Release date: Early 2023

The Ant-Man and the Wasp's third film will deal with the Quantum Realm, obviously. Peyton Reed will return to direct, and it will star Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas all reprising their roles. Joining the cast is Kathryn Newton as a grown-up Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror--Majors played a variant of that character at the end of Loki.

At Comic-Con, it was revealed that both MODOK and Bill Murray will be in the movie.

Things have been pretty secretive about the next Disney+ show since its announcement. In the comics, Secret Invasion was about a Skrull invasion of Earth and Skrulls have been posing as many humans--even superheroes--for years.

There are a few of returning MCU folk in this movie. Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. New additions to the MCU include Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Christopher McDonald.

Footage for the upcoming show was shown at Comic-Con 2022, but it will not go out to the rest of the world. It contained Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and James Rhodes. The tone of the series is political thriller... with aliens that can look like anyone else.

The third movie in Marvel's cosmic franchise has been through some trying times. Director and writer James Gunn was fired from the movie, and recently, was rehired by Disney. Gunn took to Twitter to say he was grateful for all the support.

The third installment of the series will see Chukwudi Iwuji take on the role of The High Evolutionary--and at Comic-Con, he showed up in costume to make the announcement.

James Gunn said the new movie will be "much more mature." And while a trailer was revealed at Comic-Con, it won't be released online because Gunn said the VFX weren't ready for the public yet. Another announcement from Comic-Con was that Borat 2's Maria Bakalova will be playing Cosmo the Space Dog--a character who popped up in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies already, but never said anything.

Echo will be a spinoff of the Hawkeye series. Alaqua Cox will reprise the role as Maya Lopez/Echo, Vincent D'Onofrio will be back as Kingpin, and Charlie Cox will show up as Daredevil.

Loki Season 1 was a huge hit for Disney+. It ended on a pretty big cliffhanger, which greatly affected the MCU as a whole. The show was in production during the summer of 2022, according to star Tom Hiddleston. Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw will return to reprise their roles as Sylvie, Mobius M. Mobius, and Ravonna Renslayer.

After one week in the theaters, Captain Marvel amassed $569 million dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Then, Ms. Marvel hit Disney+ with critical acclaim. The Marvels will continue to carve out Phase 4 of the MCU and will be directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman). Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris will all reprise their roles from Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel respectively.

Release date: July 28, 2023

This series will follow Riri Williams, a genius teenager inventor who makes her own Iron Man costume. Dominique Thorne will play the titular character and make her first appearance as Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

In the wake of Wandavision, it was announced Agatha: Coven of Chaos would be coming to Disney+. Kathryn Hahn will be reprising her role as the titular witch--one who was trying to steal Scarlet Witch's powers at the end of Wandavision.

The animated adventures of all your favorite characters from the '90s X-Men cartoon are back, and it's coming next year. Magneto will be in charge of the X-Men team for the new episodes. They will also take on the Hellfire Club, Mr. Sinister, and others.

The fourth installment in the Captain America series is slowly coming together. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) has signed on to direct. At Comic-Con 2022, it was confirmed Anthony Mackie would not only be reprising his role as Sam Wilson, but Wilson would indeed be Captain America. Falcon and Winter Soldier writers Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson will write Captain America 4.

Charlie Cox's Daredevil already exists in the MCU, but now, he and Vincent D'Onofrio (Kingpin) will be starring in a new Disney+ Daredevil series. The new season will consist of 18 episodes.

During the various Comic-Con 2022 announcements, a Thunderbolts movie was announced. No other details were confirmed, but considering the MCU landscape, it's a good bet we'll see US Agent and Baron Zemo as a part of this team to say the least, as Thunderbolts follows a group of villains who are teamed up to be "heroes." Sometimes, their hero-antics are really to besmirch other heroes. It gets complicated depending on what version of the team you're talking about--but here's to hoping we get to see Bullseye as Hawkeye.

The world of Deadpool was unsure when Disney bought Fox. However, Deadpool 3 is happening. The film is in development. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working with Ryan Reynolds on the script. There is a lot to figure out in the world of Disney, so progress has been slow. Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) will direct.

The animated series will follow the adventures of a young Peter Parker during his first year of high school, before Spider-Man showed up in Captain America: Civil War. Additionally, Charlie Cox will be on the show, reprising his role as Matt Murdock.

Based on the Marvel Comics miniseries of the same name, Marvel Zombies will pit superheroes against zombies--and some of these zombies are former superhero friends. The show will be TV-MA, and some images were shown at Comic-Con 2022.

Closing out Marvel's Comic-Con 2022 panel was the announcement of two new Avengers movies. The first will be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

During the Investors Day press conference, Kevin Feige confirmed that the Fantastic Four are indeed headed to the MCU. Jon Watts was originally signed on to direct, but has stepped down since then.

At Comic-Con 2024, Marvel announced the release date for the upcoming film. It will be apart of Phase 6.

Originally, there were two untitled Marvel movies on Disney's schedule in 2025 and 2026. That's been whittled down to one movie, which now releases in late-November.

The second Avengers movie announcement was Secret Wars. Nothing else outside of the release date is known at this time.

In December 2021, Shang-Chi 2 was greenlit. Destin Daniel Cretton will return to direct and write the sequel. Nothing else is known at this time.

Originally planned as a Disney+ series, Armor Wars will now be a feature-length movie. There's no news yet as to when this movie will arrive in theaters.

Don Cheadle will reprise his role as James Rhodes/War Machine in this Disney+ series. Comedian Yassir Lester will serve as head writer on the show. The show will see Tony Stark's tech fall into the wrong hands, and of course, people in armor will be fighting each other.

There's been little news about the Blade movie starring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. There have been reports that filming has been pushed back to October 2022--as it was supposed to begin filming in July. Blade makes a cameo appearance--well, Ali's voice does--at the end of Eternals, so there are still plans for the Daywalker.

At Comic-Con 2022, Blade finally got a release date, putting it at November, 2023. No other information was released about the movie at SDCC though.

In October 2022, director Bassim Tariq exited the project after numerous shifts in the production schedule. Becuase of this, the movie is on pause.

The fourth film was announced in the wake of No Way Home's initial release. There is nothing else known about the movie nor a release date.

However, considering No Way Home had that Venom stinger, and a piece of the Venom symbiote was left in the MCU, AND the fact Avengers: Secret Wars (the comic storyline Secret Wars is when Spidey chronologically got the black suit), there's a good chance this movie won't come out until 2026, and it may likely deal with the symbiote suit.

Back in June 2022, it was reported that Wonder Man will be getting his on TV show. Yes, the Wonder Man that was a talk show host in Marvel Comics that has ties to Baron Zemo. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community) will bring the character to life.

There is a small chance this could be two separate projects. Ryan Coogler's deal with with Disney also means we're getting a series set in Wakanda. A list of powerful lawyers from The Hollywood Reporter revealed there's a Okoye series in the works, and that Danai Gurira will reprise her role.

There's also been speculation that there is a separate Wakanda show in development, outside of Okoye. Considering Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will feature a flooding of the country, this separate Wakanda series could a country rebuilding after a war with Atlantis, if it happens.
