Another weekend is here in Destiny 2, which means that Xur will return to the Solar System very soon. He's got a new batch of weapons for your perusal that can get you geared up to take on more pirates in Season of Plunder, plus some extremely tough-to-get armor from the Season of Opulence, way back during the Forsaken expansion days, to help you raise your Guardian fashion game. Here's where you can find Xur this week and the Exotics he's selling.

Now Playing: Destiny 2: Season of the Plunder Xur Location September 2, 2022

This week you can find Xur in the EDZ, in the Winding Cove area. For his weapon, Xur is offering Tractor Cannon. Hunters can pick up The Dragon's Shadow chest armor; Titans can grab the Lion Rampant leg armor; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Contraverse Hold gauntlets.

Xur Location

Look for Xur at the top of the cliff at the northern end of Winding Cove in the EDZ.

Use the Winding Cove transmat zone in the EDZ to find Xur this week. When you get there, hop on your sparrow and head north up the broken overpass on the west side of the area. When it starts to bend, jump off and look for a cave set in the cliffside. Hop in and the tunnel you'll find will take you to the cliff above, where a Fallen dropship has crashed, and where Xur waits.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on Friday (until Daylight Saving brings that forward by an hour in November). Bungie doesn't mark Xur's location on the in-game map, so it can be easy to miss him if you're not aware he exists. But he only comes to specific locations, of which now there are only three: the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic and Legendary Items

Xur offers Tractor Cannon this week, a super-fun Exotic shotgun that might not be essential to the meta anymore, but can still sometimes be pretty great. It not only boops enemies to send them flying, but also debuffs them as well. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own from the world drop pool. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it--so if you're trying to get a new Titan helmet, don't buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram - 97 legendary shards
  • Tractor Cannon - 29 legendary shards
  • The Dragon's Shadow - 23 legendary shards
  • Lion Rampant - 23 legendary shards
  • Contraverse Hold - 23 legendary shards
  • Hawkmoon - 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Dead Man's Tale - 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Xenology quest - free
  • Legendary weapons and armor - 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Alongside changes in his location, Xur's inventory also rotates weekly. That means it's worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the Solar System.

Xur's Hawkmoon this week is another high-Handling version of the hand cannon, sporting Snapshot Sights. That's a solid PvP perk that can help you get the upper hand on whoever you're fighting, although this version doesn't pack as much range as other rolls, so take it or leave it based on your play style. As for Dead Man's Tale, Xur offers Moving Target on a fairly rangy version of the gun, but perks meant to be used while aiming down sights don't really play to DMT's strength as a hip-firing rifle; you'll probably want to skip this one.

As for Legendary guns, Xur's haul is a bit weak this week, although he offers a few things that are tough to come by if you don't have other copies. The Chroma Rush auto rifle from Season of the Splicer is on offer with Dynamic Sway Reduction, Adrenaline Junkie, and a Reload Speed Masterwork--a weak roll, but still one of the better auto rifles out there, so if you don't have one, this may still be worth snagging. The Enigma's Draw side arm with Triple Tap, Rangefinder, and a Range Masterwork is a decent roll on a fun sidearm that can definitely do work in both PvE and PvP. Xur's Fractethyst shotgun sports Ensemble and Trench Barrel with a Handling Masterwork, which can make it a solid option for PvE battles. And like Chroma Rush, the Shattered Cipher machine gun is a Splicer weapon that's tough to come by now, and offers Field Prep, Adrenaline Junkie and a Reload Speed Masterwork--again, not a perfect roll, but maybe worth grabbing if you need this fun Heavy weapon.

If Guardian fashion is something you care about, you'll want to sit up and take notice of Xur's Legendary armor this week. He's offering the Opulent Stalker, Opulent Duelist, and Opulent Scholar sets from way back in the Season of Opulence, after the launch of the Forsaken campaign. Those are armor sets that are currently impossible to come by any other way, so this is a great chance to add some new looks to your Collections, if nothing else.

Tractor Cannon is not only great for blasting enemies into oblivion, it also can help you maximize boss damage.

If you don't have a Tractor Cannon in your collection, grab one. The Heavy ammo shotgun isn't always part of the meta these days, but it can still be very useful for a variety of reasons. First, it sends enemies flying by emitting a burst of repulsive energy, which shreds weaker foes. Second, it suppresses any enemy hit with it and makes them more vulnerable to incoming damage, which can be great for debuffing tough foes so your fireteam can more easily deal with them.

The Dragon's Shadow (Hunter)

Amplify your Hunter dodges with The Dragon's Shadow.
Amplify your Hunter dodges with The Dragon's Shadow.

Hunter dodge abilities are already pretty great, conferring the ability to turn invisible, reload your weapons, or recharge your melee, depending on your build. The Dragon's Shadow lets you get more of those benefits at the same time--it reloads all your weapons when you dodge, while also increasing your weapon handling speed and movement speed for a short time after. That lets you get the benefits of both Gambler's Dodge and Marksman's Dodge at the same time, with additional bonuses to boot.

Lion Rampant (Titan)

When you're facing a tough platforming challenge as a Titan, Lion Rampant can help.
When you're facing a tough platforming challenge as a Titan, Lion Rampant can help.

Lion Rampant is to Titans what St0mp-ee5 is to Hunters--a handy Exotic that gives you significant boosts to your jumping abilities that are great for platforming. Lion Rampant makes you more maneuverable in the air, while also making it possible to hip-fire your weapons with more accuracy while using the Lift jump ability. You also get a boost to your airborne effectiveness stat when wearing the armor. Jumpy Titans, take note--these boots can give you some significant advantages.

Contraverse Hold (Warlock)

If you're a Warlock who loves charged-up grenades, Contraverse Hold can make it tougher for other Guardians to kill you before you kill them.

It's no longer an essential Exotic for Warlocks, but Contraverse Hold still has some useful benefits, especially in PvP. The gauntlets provide you additional damage resistance when you're charging up a Void grenade for things like a Handheld Supernova, and if you manage to hit something with the blast, you'll get grenade energy refunded, as well. Handheld Supernova isn't as ridiculously dominant as it used to be, but with new Void 3.0 upgrades in The Witch Queen, this is an Exotic that can be very useful for certain grenade builds.
