Update: Xur has departed for the weekend. Here's where to find him and what Exotics Xur is offering for the weekend of November 5-9.

It's Friday, and for Destiny 2 players, that means a new visit from Xur. The Exotic merchant has a new slate of weapons and armor for you to peruse, and with the Iron Banner coming back next week, this is a good chance to snag some useful gear. While Xur's haul this week isn't the greatest, he does offer a few good pieces of Legendary armor that can help bolster your loadout, in addition to Exotics you'll want in your collection. Here's where Xur is and what he's offering this week.

Now Playing: Destiny 2 Xur Guide - October 29, 2021

Head to the Tower, to the Hangar area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering Vigilance Wing. Hunters can pick up the Shards of Galanor gauntlets; for Titans, there's the Antaeus Wards leg armor; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Karnstein Armlets gauntlets.

This week's inventory of Legendary weapons from Xur is pretty lackluster. The only thing really worth mentioning is Xur's True Prophecy, a solid PvP hand cannon. This one has Opening Shot and Demolitionist, which is nice for those players who like to throw a lot of grenades as per Shaxx's recommendation, as well as a Reload Masterwork. It's only a so-so roll, though; decent if you need a gun, but not something that will be a loadout mainstay. Of his other weapons, the Wishbringer shotgun can also hold its own with a Range Masterwork, Threat Detector, and Moving Target, but it's also only so-so. The Steel Sybil Z-14 sword is also okay thanks to its Impact Masterwork, En Garde perk for extra damage, and Tireless Blade perk for returned sword ammo--but you likely have better swords than this by now.

For Legendary armor, Xur again offers the Kairos Function set, which you can't get anywhere else in the world right now. There are at least some okay rolls for all three characters among Xur's inventory if you need to shore up gaps in your loadout. Hunters can grab a strong pair of gauntlets and a good helmet, particularly for Mobillity and Discipline builds, and Warlocks get a standout chest armor piece with high Recovery. For Titans, only the helmet is really decent, but it's there if you need it.

Xur Location

Head down to the Hangar side of the Tower and turn left to go to the north end. Xur's up a flight of stairs on a catwalk.
Head down to the Hangar side of the Tower and turn left to go to the north end. Xur's up a flight of stairs on a catwalk.

From the central transmat location, make your way to the left and down the stairs to hit the Hangar area. Turn left at the bottom of the steps when you see Amanda Holliday, then make your way to the north end of the area. Head up the stairs onto a catwalk to find Xur standing near the Tower's edge.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday (although that exact timing will soon be changing when Daylight Savings wraps up for the year). His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic Items

This week, Xur's gun is Vigilance Wing, a useful fallback pulse rifle for PvP in particular. It's great for taking down opposing Guardians with its five-round bursts, and conveys healing and movement buffs as your team falls, helping you to pull out those clutch wins. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it--so if you're trying to get a new Titan helmet, don't buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram -- 97 legendary shards
  • Vigilance Wing -- 29 legendary shards
  • Shards of Galanor -- 23 legendary shards
  • Antraeus Wards -- 23 legendary shards
  • Karnstein Armlets -- 23 legendary shards
  • Xenology quest -- free
  • Legendary weapons and armor -- 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Alongside changes in his location, Xur's inventory also rotates weekly. That means it's worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system. During that time, you can also take part in Trials of Osiris, which will see a tweak to matchmaking this weekend.

Vigilance Wing (Pulse Rifle)

With a five-round pulse burst and solid range, Vigilance Wing is a reliable pulse for taking down enemies in PvP. Its real benefits come when your teammates die, however.
With a five-round pulse burst and solid range, Vigilance Wing is a reliable pulse for taking down enemies in PvP. Its real benefits come when your teammates die, however.

Vigilance Wing is a PvP-driven pulse rifle, designed to give you benefits as your fireteam dies in battle. The pulse is highly effective in dropping enemies at most ranges thanks to its five-round pulse burst, which is larger than what you get from most rifles in the class. If you're near an ally and they die, Vigilance Wing gives you health regeneration and faster movement speed to help you stay alive. If your entire fireteam dies, the gun gets better performance and your health recovery is greatly improved--hopefully giving you time to find and revive your buddies.

Shards Of Galanor (Hunter)

Boost your Blade Barrage with Shards of Galanor, which will help you get your Super back more quickly.
Boost your Blade Barrage with Shards of Galanor, which will help you get your Super back more quickly.

Shards of Galanor isn't as effective as it used to be, but it's still a pretty great Exotic if you're trying to rain blades of fire down on enemies with frequency. The Exotic gives you Super energy back for each hit and kill you manage with your Blade Barrage Super, capping at 50% energy. It's not the greatest Exotic in your collection, but Shards of Galanor can be great for those PvE situations where crowd control is essential and Supers flow fast.

Boost your sliding with Antaeus Wards, which will also reflect incoming shots back at your enemies.
Boost your sliding with Antaeus Wards, which will also reflect incoming shots back at your enemies.

Grab a shotgun and start sliding with Antaeus Wards, an Exotic build for wrecking people's day in PvP. The leg armor gives Titans better slides, making it easier to close the gap and become tougher to shoot. The best element of Antaeus Wards, though, is that the Exotic boots will reflect incoming projectiles back at opponents while you're sliding--giving you some added protection as you're closing the gap for shotgun range.

If you're a Warlock who likes throwing 'bows, Karnstein Armlets are for you. The Exotic gloves heal you when you land a melee kill on an enemy, while also giving you instant health restoration for a short period thereafter. That's great for smashing through crowds in PvE, and can be very useful for close-quarters PvP combat.
