Wayfinder Co-Op, Cross-Play, And Cross-Saves Explained

We've got everything you need to know about Wayfinder's cross-play and cross-save functionality.

Comments

If you're looking to play Airship Syndicate's new shared-world title Wayfinder, you've likely got some questions regarding its cross-play and cross-save functionality. Whether you're playing with friends or going it alone, you'll want to be sure you know what to expect when logging in, and we've got you covered on all of that information below.

Wayfinder co-op team size

Wayfinder is a shared-world game that is extremely similar to an MMO. As such, it is fully playable with friends and strangers alike in groups of up to three players. You can set out on adventures together, tackle dangerous dungeons to earn loot, or simply hang out and shoot the breeze in Skylight, the game's central hub for socialization, crafting, and much more. Don't worry, though--while you'll be certain to have plenty of opportunities to hook up with other players, cooperative play is not required for most content, so you'll be free to play alone if you prefer.

Does Wayfinder have cross-play?

Wayfinder will support cross-play as soon as its Early Access period begins later this month. However, that access is only available for those who purchase a Founder's Pack, which we've detailed further down in this article.

Does Wayfinder have cross-saves?

As with cross-play, Wayfinder will support cross-saving as soon as the game is online, but Early Access will only be open to those with a Founder's Pack purchase. In both cases, these features will persist beyond the Early Access period too, and ultimately be available for all players. An added wrinkle to be mindful of is that a Founder's Pack would need to be purchased on multiple platforms in order for a player to use cross-saves, such as between PS5 and Steam, for example. Once the game is free-to-play, this won't be required, as neither will Founder's Packs be.

Wayfinder Founder's Packs

Founder's Packs come in four styles with varying price tags and bundled items:

  • Base Pack - $20
  • Initiate Pack - $50
  • Awakened Pack - $90
  • Exalted Pack - $150

Again, the game will eventually be free-to-play, so a Founder's Pack is only needed if you'd like to join in during the game's Early Access period. With each Founder's Pack increasing in price, you'll get a lot more for your money, too. Packs can include up to two seasons of premium battle passes, a plethora of skins and other cosmetics, and in-game currency. For the complete details, including a helpful visual that lays out every difference among the four packs, check out the game's official website.

Wayfinder enters Early Access on August 15 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. More platforms are said to be coming with the game's free-to-play launch.
