Watch Dogs 2 Easter Egg Appears to Tease a New Ubisoft Space Game

[UPDATE] There is more to the story. Kotaku reports that there is a mission in Watch Dogs 2 that begins with the player intercepting a call from a fictional Ubisoft marketing person. They talk about how Assassin's Creed games in real life have a tendency to leak before they are officially announced.

"I can assure you, there's no way the trailer's getting out," a fake Ubisoft employee says to another. "Can you? Can you assure me?" the boss replies. “After what happened with Unity, Syndicate, Osiris?" Watch the clip below.

After this, a mission titled "Ubistolen" begins. Your task is to visit Ubisoft's San Francisco office (which is actually in the game), climb onto the roof, and eventually steal a game trailer by hacking into the network. Here is how that plays out:

With Watch Dogs 2 scheduled to come out in a few days, footage from the game has started to appear online. Interestingly, the game appears to contain an Easter egg that might be referencing a new Ubisoft game. Or it might be nothing at all.

Kotaku reports that Watch Dogs 2 has a mission that sees the player stealing a trailer for an unannounced Ubisoft video game. Ubisoft's San Francisco office is actually in the game, which explains how this might be able to work. The title appears to be some kind of rad-looking space game that Ubisoft (in the Watch Dogs 2 fiction) would announce at E3. Watch the video below.

Creative director Jonathan Morin said recently that Watch Dogs 2 has a number of Easter eggs to discover; this could be one of them.

Watch Dogs 2 comes out on November 15 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, before arriving for PC on November 29. Ubisoft said the two weeks of extra development time for the PC version affords the studio the opportunity to add more polish and ensure the game runs well on a range of hardware. Recently, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said preorders for Watch Dogs 2 were lower than what the company wanted, though management also pointed out that preorder numbers may not be as important as they used to be. "The preorders are not as high as we thought they could be but we feel like the experience is a fantastic experience so we feel it can do extremely well," he said.

Watch Dogs 2 is one of the many titles being updated to support the PS4 Pro.
