Disney has shared a new clip from the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens Blu-ray/DVD release, spotlighting the search to find an actress to play Rey. Director JJ Abrams says Disney was looking for a relatively unknown actress who could pull off "vulnerable and tough; sweet and terrified."

"And to find someone that no one knew, who could do all these things, took a lot of looking," Abrams said.

Several people were deemed possible candidates for the role of Rey, Abrams said (none were named), but it wasn't until Daisy Ridley came along that he knew he had his Rey. Abrams said he was blown away by her audition, which saw her performing the interrogation scene between Rey and Kylo Ren.

Ridley performed the scene multiple times, bringing herself to tears and ultimately winning over Abrams with her moving performance. "She's reaching this depth of struggle, and I thought, 'This is unbelievable,'" Abrams said.

Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in 2018's Star Wars Episode VIII, which is shooting now.

This was a clip from one of The Force Awakens' home video bonus features, titled "The Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey." The Force Awakens' Blu-ray/DVD edition also features a series of deleted scenes, some of which were recently teased in a video.

The movie will be available to download on April 1. It comes to Blu-ray and DVD on April 5.
