Thanks to developers like Relic, real-time strategy games are slowly but surely evolving the traditional real-time strategy past simply gathering resources, building bases, and raising armies to crush your opponents. You could say that real-time strategy is getting smarter, faster, and more exciting thanks to games like Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, the real-time strategy game based on Games Workshop's tabletop universe. And Dawn of War is all set to get bigger with its new expansion pack, Dark Crusade. We've got an exclusive look at the new units in the expansion, continuing with the daemon prince unit.

Daemon Prince

According to the lore of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the gods of chaos grant gifts to those minions who are most worthy. In Dark Crusade, the chaos gods will grant such gifts to accomplished chaos lords--gifts that will strengthen the unit over time. Once chaos lords have accomplished enough in the service of their dark gods, they can request the most powerful upgrade of all--ascension to the status of daemon prince.

The daemon prince is a massive warrior with many powerful abilities and is one of the strongest units that will ever march into battle in Dawn of War. The unit is so dominant on the battlefield that it can turn the tide of a battle single-handedly. However, since the upgrade to daemon prince is so valuable, it can be done only once a chaos player has reached the third tier of structures and research.

Combat Abilities:

The daemon prince is a formidable opponent that can simply toss most of its enemies aside. However, it's very vulnerable when attacked by counterunits that specialize in fighting daemons or monsters.

Special Abilities:

Daemon Roar:
This ability lets the daemon prince emit a terrifying roar, which severely damages the morale of any nearby enemies.
