Microsoft will be exhibiting Voodoo Vince, a new platform game for the Xbox, at this year's E3. The game is unusual not just because you'll be playing as a voodoo doll named Vince, but because the game's play mechanics dictate that you must beat yourself up in order to damage your enemies.

As Vince, you're looking for your master, Madame Charmaine. You'll explore a variety of locations in Louisiana to search for her, ranging from the streets of New Orleans and the French Quarter to a network of dingy sewers and on over to the steamy bayou outside the city limits. As you make your way around, you'll run into off-the-wall enemies ranging from imps and zombies to strange creatures called the gingerdeadmen.

Unlike other games where you use weapons or natural fighting ability to dispatch your enemies, in Voodoo Vince, you have to put yourself in harm's way in order to take out your foes. Some of the funny and creative ways to damage your enemies include sticking pins in yourself, bashing yourself over the head with a hammer, jumping into an open flame, diving into a blender, or running underneath falling debris. In total, there are 30 different voodoo attacks that you can do to yourself to damage your opponents.

To get from place to place, you'll be able to pilot a variety of different vehicles, including a fanboat, an airplane, and a submarine. You'll also be able to catch a ride on the backs of different animals such as rats and shrimp.

Voodoo Vince is currently scheduled for release in Fall 2003 for the Xbox. We'll have more information on the game as it becomes available.
