The popular video game Vampire Survivors is becoming a TV show. Deadline reports that that media company founded by John Wick and Sonic the Hedgehog executives is teaming up with Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante to make an animated TV series based on the game.

Vampire Survivors launched in 2022 and became a huge success, despite at first glance looking like a visually unremarkable game. The game isn't exactly known for its story, so it'll be interesting to see how it comes together as a TV series, if it does. In Hollywood, deals for new TV shows and movies get announced all the time and many never come to fruition.

Story Kitchen, the media company founded by John Wick's Derek Kolstad and Sonic the Hedgehog producer Dmitri Johnson, is said to be shopping the idea to animated TV networks right now. They are also looking for a writer, the report said.

Galante told Deadline that it's a "dream come true" to have Vampire Survivors become an animated TV show. Johnson, meanwhile, said Story Kitchen has been eyeing Vampire Survivors for a TV deal since 2022. Johnson said the team was "prepared to dismiss it as just another vampire game," but after playing for "hundreds of hours," they were convinced.

"Needless to say, we're truly honored to partner with this incredible team and to continue the Vampire Survivors story!" Johnson said.

Story Kitchen is also behind the Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell TV projects at Netflix, as well as the Toejam and Earl and Streets of Rage movies Amazon and Lionsgate. Additionally, Story Kitchen is behind the It Takes Two TV movie for Amazon Studios.

The latest video game adaptation from Hollywood is The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is in theaters now and is expected to reach $1 billion.

Vampire Survivors is available now on PC, iOS, Android, and Xbox Game Pass. The newest expansion, Tides of the Foscari, launched earlier this month.
