As one of Valve's business developers, Johnson has been involved in Dota 2's current compendium project, which has given the community the chance to participate in increasing the prize pools of the two latest editions of The International. In a similar fashion, Valve presented the CS:GO community with the chance to aid the funding of at least three major tournaments in 2013-2014, offering $250,000 to the 16 participating teams.

Johnson told Prodota.ru, who are currently providing coverage throughout TI4, that a tournament similar to that of TI is not out of the question for CS:GO. "I don’t know if it would be called The International," Johnson starts, "but the guys working on Counter-Strike made a lot of progress on supporting the professional community around that game."

The second-ever "eSports Case" will be used to fund future events for the CS:GO circuit throughout the year, starting with ESL One Cologne where the aforementioned structure of $250,000 being paid out to 16 participating teams will be utilized. Whether or not the next CS:GO major will be more in lieu with TI is left to be seen. The Valve employee ended his answer in the following manner: "We all work at the same company and share a lot of ideas, and given how successful The International has become I don’t see any reason why a lot of the same things couldn't be applied directly to Counter-Strike."
