Uncharted Veteran Leaves Naughty Dog To Maybe Work On New Avengers Game

The creative director of PS4's Uncharted: The Lost Legacy might be moving to Crystal Dynamics.

Shaun Escayg, who has worked at Naughty Dog for seven years and most recently served as creative director on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, has left the studio. He joined Naughty Dog seven years ago when The Last Of Us was only just getting off the ground. He worked on that title, along with its expansion, Left Behind, before contributing to Uncharted 4. As mentioned, he served as creative director on The Lost Legacy, which launched in 2017 and was widely praised. He said on Twitter that he will "miss all my dogs," referencing his co-workers at Naughty Dog.

As spotted by IGN, Escayg posted a picture of the Avengers logo on Instagram, with the caption, "To new adventures--bring it 2018!" This might mean that he's joining Crystal Dynamics to work on their in-development and unannounced Avengers title. Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are working on new Avengers projects. More details on these titles will be announced this year, so we may learn more soon.

The Lost Legacy launched in August for PS4. A standalone game, it doesn't feature Nathan Drake but instead puts you in the shoes of Chloe Frazer who fights alongside Nadine Ross in a new story. Our Lost Legacy review scored it a 9/10.

In other Uncharted news, the entire franchise recently passed 41 million copies sold. No new entries have been announced, and Naughty Dog is finished with the series, but that doesn't mean there won't be more games coming out...eventually.

Honestly, good riddance. Even though TLL was much shorter than the other Uncharted games, it was weak all around. They reused a major set piece from an earlier game, and the character development was just not there or it was really out of character. I know some people rave about TLL, but I wasn't a fan of it.

I despise marvel games. I can't get into anything in that world. I hope all the talent poached from these great devs actually ends up making these mediocre devs great as opposed to ruining these individuals that have such talent. We shall see...

Thanks for the hard work and part of the team that created some of the best games of the decade!

Seems like quite a few people have been leaving Naughty Dog over the last year or so. Just goes to show you how sought after many of these people are in the industry thanks to the talent they have brought forth in all of ND's games over the years.

Good for him and good for gaming as a whole. I just hope this means that Naughty Dog isn't going to take a step back from where they have already established themselves in the gaming world.

@videogameninja:

I was thinking the very same.

They seem to have lost a lot of talent over the last years. Hope it doesn't start to impact what they do.

@videogameninja: Don't worry, with the rep Naughty Dog has at the moment, they can probably land almost any employee in the industry.
