UK Chart: Dead Island: Riptide first, but sells less than half the original

Great game to play on-line with a few friends, especially with a few beers, yea the story sucks, but island full Zombies just waiting to be cut up and mangled, what more could one need. Have to admit the old road racing abit limited this time round. Riptide doesn't need a story, just a simple island full of ever spawning zombies, and interactive environment.

The fact that it's selling as well as it is with how crappy things are around the world and how little disposable income there is: is great. Just kinda shows that there were quite a few people (like me) that loved Dead Island and were simply wanting more of the same. I'm glad in a way: it seems a lot of companies change everything in sequels/expansions/whatever and lose what made it popular in the first place. Riptide's place at #1 on this list shows that, while there might be a dozen people posting to this site that hated the first game, there are still hundreds of thousands out there that loved it...... it WAS the first game to get FPS melee combat RIGHT..... not that whole "Swing, back up, swing, back up" like every FPS-style melee combat since the beginning of time.

Wow, talk about a snowballing effect! The first game was pretty well liked and Riptide is essentially: more Dead Island. That is pretty much what it was billed as.... a bunch more Dead Island content. People that liked the first will like Riptide; people that didn't like Dead Island won't like Riptide. It's that simple. People that rated Riptide lower than Dead Island are crazy: IT'S AN EXPANSION! *sigh*

i honestly would buy riptide because its soo fun to hit zombies like undead nightmare, dead rising etc... bugs, glitches, repetitive is not my problem its fine for me.

i dont hate DC or any fighting games, tekken, soul calibur, mk, street fighter i love those but injustice doesnt feel right for me, i dont know.. its a feeling but maybe its the roster... not enough roster. Though.. i am still waiting for DC Ultimate Alliance just like Marvels Ultimate Alliance but DC :)

After the scam of a game that was Dead Island this was totally expected no surprise..

I cannot believe that this beat the DC game into first place. The PC version of this series' first game is one of the worst game purchases I have ever made. I bought a retail copy at game stop only to find out that the CD key had been used and it took me nearly ten days to straighten that out through STEAM. I then installed the game only to discover a bug filled abomination of a game; especially an audio bug that made it unplayable. I would never go near the second installment of this game even if it were given to me for free.

I'm disappointed with the reviews for Riptide. I mean, yeah the story isn't great, but that's why they added a skip button for the cutscenes. The Dead Island games have always been about mindless zombie killing with heavy, blunt and sharp weapons. I guess reviewers don't factor in fun in their reviews, cause this game is a blast

I'm having a lot of fun with the new Dead Island. Although, it's definitely not for everyone.

I love Riptide, but then again I loved Dead Island, but I also loved Too Human which also got crapped on by gamespot so maybe I just like shitty games.

I'm enjoying Dead Island Riptide myself. Not a perfect game by any means but the fun factor is there.

DD is such a gr8 game!! im going to get monster hunter for my vita...cause theres not many games out for it anywho, im looking forward for monster hunter itll be my first time in that universe

TBH alot of people in the UK do have bad tastes, espeically when buying games like ACM

the best game on that top 5 list is Dark arisen dragons dogma, which hasnt been given much advertisment. Im from the UK, and i tell you this. Marketing is king here. Star trek awful game, dont know how that made it. , At least some people had the sense to buy dark arisen, which is thee most underated game of this gen. due to it being released last year, when people were still playing skyrim and mass effect, it didnt get the attention or the credit.

Being released this year again, and comming top 3 is impressive. Well done to capcom, for once for creating a damn great game.

This should have been released as an expanison pack at a lower price.

Between Riptide and Survival Instinct, it's tempting to assume one can package dog turds in anything that so much as hints at zombies in the title. Shameful.

My copy of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen just arrived today. :)

It saddens me that my fellow countrymen got duped into buying that broken Star Trek game, and are still buying that awful Aliens game. Riptide sounds like it should have been DLC, not a full-priced sequel. Gah.

At least there are some decent games in that list as well.
