Ubisoft expecting next-gen racer The Crew to sell 2.5 million copies
Publisher reveals sales expectations for upcoming racing game, says Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will sell below mark of Assassin's Creed III.
Ubisoft expects that its next-generation racing game The Crew, recently delayed to the second quarter of 2014, will sell more than 2.5 million copies.
Chief financial officer Alain Martinez revealed the sales guidance during an earnings call this week. He also reiterated that Watch Dogs, also delayed to 2014, is expected to sell around 6 million copies.
"In the case of The Crew, as you know it's a driving game, so it's more limited potential," Martinez said about The Crew compared to Watch Dogs. "We generally had spoken to about over 2.5 million units. We'll see where we go. And we believe that we have nice potential for the future."
Martinez also addressed sales expectations for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. He said the game is not expected to match Assassin's Creed III's 12 million units shipped figure, but come in somewhere above 10 million copies.
"The previews are exceptional and the game is really coming along very well. We hope it can do a lot this year," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot added.
