Konami has announced more release details for its upcoming retro TurboGrafx-16 Mini, including a release date and the full game library. The mini-console will include 50 games, though some are both English- and Japanese-language versions of the same title. The TurboGrafx-16 Mini releases on March 19, 2020.

The mini-console will be available for purchase from Amazon, and pre-orders are now open as a Prime subscriber exclusive for Amazon Prime Day. The name and design of the mini-console will be different based on territory based on its roots in the region--TurboGrafx-16 Mini in America, PC Engine Core Mini (after the Core Grafx) in Europe, and PC Engine Mini in Japan. The price is set at $100 / €89.99 RRP.

Pre-order TurboGrafx-16 Mini at Amazon

The full game line-up includes 24 TurboGrafx-16 games, and 26 PC Engine games. Each region will get roughly the same library, so English-speaking customers will get the collection of Japanese-language games too. The one exception is to the Japanese PC Engine Mini, which will Tokimeki Memorial instead of Salamander.

The libraries themselves have some crossover. Both libraries have the Neutopia games, Ys games, and Military Madness. But there are also some curious spots where the two don't overlap. It has the Japanese version of Bonk, and then the English version of its sequel, Bonk's Revenge. The two have different variations of Bomberman. Snatcher, one of the earliest games from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, was only ever released in Japan, so this only includes that version.

@shadowwarrior4: I know and care about a lot of these. And that beats rereleasing nothing but games people already have 50 copies of.

Would love to check this out as the Turbografix16 fell into the background quickly but had some decent titles. 100.00 for me is a little high but still manageable

Castlevania, Gradius, and Ghoul's n' Ghosts are all on the European and Japanese ones, but not the Canadian/American one. Ouch. Those are some gems!

@al89lan: Did anyone read the article at all?

The two lists are on both consoles, they’re just showing you the version that’s on the console and that’s why they broke the list down.

Maybe when the price goes down I may pick this up. Only reason why is because I didn’t grow up with the system so I don’t know about a lot of the games for it, and I can’t see spending that much on a gamble of whether or not I’ll enjoy the system.

If it were £70, came with two controllers like both the SNES Mini and Mega Drive Mini, and I could be sure both the emulation and menu/UI were up to par then I'd probably buy it. So I guess that means I might possibly get one at a later date when the price drops, but I'll not be buying it right away.

@amaneuvering: the pc engine had only one gamepad port. For two up to five players there was the multitap adapter

I'm not sure I want to bite on this one. I don't have enough fond memories of the TurboGraphix 16 outside of Bonk.

@JustPlainLucas: Ys I And II, Neutopia I And II, Bonks adventure, Bonks Revenge, Power Golf, Bomber Man, Blazing Lazers, R-Type, Air Zonk, Castlevania, Dungeon Explorer, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Spirit, and Parasol Stars all make this worth a look at least!

I know Sony and Sega screwed up the trust everyone had in these things, but I’m still preordering this thing on Monday! I loved my Turbo Duo, but don’t want to spend $300 or more for a used one on eBay!

@p3rrypm: I'll probably still get it. I think I remember Ninja Spirit as well, and I remember that being Amazing. I'm just really hoping they do a good job with the translation.
