In a recent interview with Gamespot, the game's director, Hiromasa Shikata said, you play as the exact same hero from A Link Between Worlds. Describing it as "a little unusual for a Zelda game, he said, "Initially, the story starts with the king recruiting hero candidates, and that's where Link steps in. A Link Between Worlds is the last original 3DS Zelda game to be released back in 2013. That game took place in one of several branches of the overall Zelda timeline--after A Link to the Past, between Link's Awakening and the original Legend of Zelda.

Tri Force Heroes recently debuted on 3DS. It's a multiplayer-centric Zelda game, though you'll need a total of three people in order to avoid playing solo. For more, check out GameSpot's review and review roundup.
