This has been the first year since 2007 without the release of a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and despite provisional release dates for the next few MCU films, it's entirely possible many of those could move too. But production continues on future Marvel movies, and Spider-Man star Tom Holland has now revealed that he's about to start marking the third Spidey film.

Holland announced the news in a new Instagram video, filmed at the airport in Atlanta, where Marvel shoots many of its movies. "We just landed in Atlanta," he said in the clip. "It's time for Spider-Man 3. Let's go!" Check the video out below:

The third Spider-Man movie currently has a December 2021 release date. No plot details have been revealed so far, but we do know that Jon Watts, who helmed the previous two films, will return as director. The main cast are also coming back, including Zendaya as MJ, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson.

There have also been two other notable additions to the cast in the past few weeks. One that no one expected was Jamie Foxx, reportedly reprising his role as Electro, a character he last played in 2014's non-MCU movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In addition, it's been reported that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange. There's also a chance that JK Simmons might return as J. Jonah Jameson, following his cameo at the end of the last Spider-Man movie, Far From Home.

The next MCU movie on the schedule is Black Widow. The film was originally set to be released back in May, before it was delayed to November. The current release date is May 21, 2021. Beyond that, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is due in July, The Eternals in November, and Thor: Love and Thunder in February 2022.

In related news, the first image of Holland as Nathan Drake in the much-anticipated movie adaptation of the video game Uncharted was revealed last week. The movie releases in July 2021.
