A full 4K version of Timesplitters 2 has been hiding inside Homefront: The Revolution, and a modder has uncovered the secret of how to unlock it. The discovery came shortly after a developer revealed the secret Easter egg, but it took a bit of work to figure out how to actually use it.

Polygon reports former developer for Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster Studios disclosed the secret that Timesplitters 2 was hidden in the code, but said he had forgotten the cheat code used to unlock it. That led modder Lance McDonald to reverse-engineer the problem and find the solution, which he tweeted out last Thursday.

The disclosure originally came from Matt Phillips, a former Crytek developer. Though he said the game full 4K port was inside The Revolution, he said that the notebook he'd kept the codes in disappeared years ago--after a Discord channel didn't believe the friend he'd given to reveal the code. Now that the code has been discovered, you can go ahead and play Timesplitters 2 til your heart's content.

Homefront: The Revolution was released in 2016 and the standard game already housed two Timesplitters 2 levels (Siberia and Chicago) into the game inside an arcade cabinet. But we didn't know until recently that the 2002 classic was playable in its entirety. Currently THQ Nordic owns the rights to Timesplitters.
