THQ announces its GameCube lineup

The new WWF Wrestlemania joins 14 other games in THQ's upcoming Nintendo GameCube line.

THQ has confirmed previous reports by officially announcing WWF Wrestlemania for the Nintendo GameCube. The company currently has 15 games in development for the console and, aside from its WWF title, the company will release such games as MX 2003 featuring Ricky Carmichael, Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius, Rugrats, SpongeBog SquarePants, Rocket Power, Tetris Worlds, and Scooby Doo. Further games will be announced in the coming months.

"THQ is extremely excited about Nintendo GameCube and the impact it will have on the videogame business,'' said Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ. "As a top third-party supporter of Nintendo's last console system, THQ looks forward to bringing its world class development talent and exclusive franchises to the next generation of Nintendo consoles.''

"THQ is one of the industry's top publishers,'' said Peter Main, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. "We're delighted to have their high-quality games come to Nintendo GameCube.''

Specific information regarding WWF Wrestlemania, which will be released in 2002, has not been announced at this time. However, developers of the original game, Asmik Ace/Aki, will be involved with the project. Of the other games, MX 2003 featuring Ricky Carmichael and Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius will be released in Spring 2002, Rugrats, SpongeBog SquarePants, Rocket Power, and Scooby Doo will arrive in fall 2002, and Tetris World currently has an early 2002 release date. GameSpot will have more on all of these games in the coming weeks.
