This Tiny Galaga Cabinet Has A Comically Large Joystick

It's all the arcade magic of Galaga but in a tiny form factor.

What's better than playing Galaga on an arcade cabinet? Playing Galaga on a tiny arcade cabinet. That's right, one of the most influential games of its era is headed back to arcades (for the millionth time), albeit in a more compact form that won't hog space in your home or guzzle up your spare coins. This incarnation of the game has Bandai Namco's official stamp of approval and is now available for preorder for just $50 ahead of its September 30 release.

This arcade cabinet is ridiculously tiny and weighs just two pounds, and to power it you'll need either 4 AA batteries or a USB-C cable. It features artwork inspired by the original Galaga arcade cabinet, a built-in speaker with volume control, and a 3.5 mm headphone port to connect your headphones. As an added bonus, it comes with Galaxian installed on it. The joystick is also very big for a cabinet that sports a 3.2-inch color display.

While this is more of a novelty device and probably not the best way to play Bandai Namco's arcade classics, this mini-arcade stand will still look great on your desk or shelf. Developed by My Arcade, the company sells plenty of other devices that look like they were stolen from a 1980s location using shrink-ray technology. If you ever wanted to set up your very own arcade featuring classics like Space Invaders , Pac-Man , and Contra --but you just don't have the real estate to do so--having a few of these devices near you is one way to have your nostalgia on display.

If you would prefer something more life-sized, you can look at the arcade stands offered by Arcade1Up. These are full-size units that contain multiple games, fancy decals accurate to their era, and even sport wifi functionality for online play. Several of them are currently on sale at Best Buy. And hey, Arcade1Up is even making a Wheel of Fortune cabinet.
