The Strong Museum has announced the next wave of inductees for its World Video Game Hall of Fame, the museum's collection of video games that it believes have influenced the gaming industry and pop culture at large.

2023's inductees include Barbie Fashion Designer (1996), Computer Space (1970), The Last of Us (2013) and Wii Sports (2007). The Strong Museum said Barbie Fashion Designer is notable because it showed that games designed for girls could succeed in a market that, at the time, was geared toward boys and men. Computer Space, meanwhile, is a cabinet black-and-white game where players control a spaceship fighting against enemy saucers. It was groundbreaking at the time.

The Last of Us is Naughty Dog's celebrated PS3 game that went on to spawn a sequel and the HBO TV series most recently. It's regarded as a masterpiece by many. And lastly, Wii Sports introduced millions to the brilliant motion controls of Nintendo's trailblazing Wii console.

Nominees that didn't make it into the Hall of Fame this year included Age of Empires, Angry Birds, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, FIFA International Soccer, GoldenEye 007, NBA 2K, Quake, and Wizardry.

2022's inductees included Sid Meier's Civilization, Ms. Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Dance Dance Revolution.

In other news, the Strong Museum is creating a 20-foot Donkey Kong arcade cabinet--the biggest in the world--and it will be available for everyone to try this summer. The Strong Museum is based in Rochester, New York.
