The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red is currently working on a mobile game that will launch later this year, the Polish developer said as part of its latest management report. The report was published in Polish and translated by Eurogamer.

The mobile game has been in development for more than a year, CD Projekt Red cofounder Adam Kicinski said. It's being made by a standalone team (so not The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Cyberpunk 2077) and an official announcement is expected "very soon" with a beta test to follow.

"Smartphones and tablets are truly powerful platforms these days and are finally giving us the ability to develop mobile games we would like to play ourselves; games that are taking full advantage of newest smartphone and tablet technologies, and offer the quality level that we, as a studio, are always aiming to achieve," Kicinski said.

CD Projekt Red recently opened a new studio in Krakow to work on a "smaller" game estimated to span around 20 hours of gameplay. It's possible that the mobile game is this new game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches February 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a release date yet.
