Electronic Arts has announced that it will release The Simpsons Road Rage for the Nintendo GameCube. In the game, which will also be released for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Microsoft Xbox, players assume the role of one of several popular Simpsons characters for some arcade-style driving action. In this free-form driving game, players will have access to five Springfield neighborhoods packed with more than 100 recognizable landmarks from the television show. The game's story mode, which is also its most extensive gameplay mode, allows for 40-60 unique passenger deliveries and includes seven bonus deliveries. There is also a free-drive mode--appropriately titled the Sunday driving mode--that lets players cruise around the city at their own leisure.

The Simpsons Road Rage will be released for the Nintendo GameCube this fall. GameSpot will have more in the coming weeks.
