One of the storylines in the last seasons of the American version of The Office involved some relationship issues between Jim and Pam, and now it's been revealed that the original plan was for Jim to cheat on Pam with Cathy. Jim (John Krasinski) and Cathy (Lindsey Broad) were going to "make out" in the Season 8 episode "After Hours," but Krasinski shut it down.

"That's the only time I remember putting my foot down … I remember saying things that I never thought I'd say before, like, 'I'm not going to shoot it,'" Krasinski said in the new book “Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office," according to the NY Post.

Krasinski is said to have reached out directly to series creator Greg Daniels with his concerns.

Jim and Pam didn't have the most solid of relationships in the final seasons of The Office, but Krasinski said it was a step too far to have Jim cheat on Pam.

"My feeling is there is a threshold with which you can push our audience. They are so dedicated. We have shown such great respect to them. But there's a moment where if you push them too far, they'll never come back. And I think that if you show Jim cheating, they'll never come back," he said.

Daniels agreed, and the scene was never filmed, though Jim and Cathy were indeed alone together in a Florida hotel room--before Dwight stepped in.

In other recent news about The Office, it was recently revealed that NBC apparently paid James Gandolfini $3 million to NOT star on The Office as Steve Carell's replacement.
