Now Playing: The Last of Us Finale Breakdown: The Great Joel Debate, Merle Dandridge Interview

As spotted by DomTheBomb on Twitter, during Episode 9 of The Last of Us when Joel is making his way through the hospital and taking down Fireflies to take back Ellie, a shadowy figure can be seen running away from Joel as another Firefly fires back to cover them. Fans believe this is Abby Anderson, the daughter of the main surgeon Joel kills at the end of the episode and a major character from The Last of Us Part II.

At first, the person looks to be another member of the resistance group, but as the Twitter user pointed out, we don't see Joel kill this person and they actually end up escaping from him. The theory that this could be Abby is made even more believable because they have what could be a long braid, and the way they are running in the scene is very similar to the way Abby moves in the game.

In The Last of Us Part II, Abby isn't at the hospital when Joel kills her dad and the team of Fireflies. She arrives at the hospital during the aftermath. Although the character hasn't been confirmed to be Abby, it's possible that writer Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin included this as a way to tease her upcoming appearance in Season 2.

Fans also thought they spotted Ellie's future girlfriend Dina in Episode 6. Druckmann and Mazin didn't outright confirm that this was her, but Mazin said, "It's ambiguous, somebody's staring at Ellie... wonder who that could be, theoretically or not. We'll find out maybe one day."
