Boy, the good folks at Sony must be wringing their hands at yet another spate of bad news regarding Gran Turismo 4. As we reported in our news section, the popular and ultra-realistic racing game has been delayed until the first quarter of 2005 in Europe. As upset as I was with the announcement that online play was being removed from the game in order to make a US pre-holiday release date, I can only imagine how the European racing contingency must be feeling right now. Just like those of us here across the pond and in Japan, European gamers have been waiting a long time for GT4 to hit their shores; that it's not arriving in time for Christmas is just plain bad news.

The optimist in me believes that the GT series is pretty much immune to any sort of lingering reputation hits these kind of delays cause. After all, those who love the series are going to buy the game the day it comes out, whenever that day arrives. However, the dirty, foul-mouthed cynic in me keeps wondering if a delay in Europe might mean further bad news for the rest of us.

No. I'm going to try and stay positive on this one. My new mantra: GT4 will arrive in December. GT4 will arrive in December.

I'll even write a letter to Santa if I have to.
