Forgetting the old movie tie-in from before, Tintin is returning to games for a brand-new adventure.

Classic adventure hero Tintin is getting another chance to shine in video games. French publisher Microids has announced a partnership with developer Moulinsart to develop a new action-adventure adaptation of Georges Remi's popular characters.

The new game will feature Tintin and his white fox terrier Snowy as well as series staples such as Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and the investigative duo of Thomson and Thompson. The announcement describes the game as an action-adventure, letting you globe-trot with Tintin as he undertakes another dangerous investigative endeavor.

You'll visit various continents while undertaking activities such as undersea diving and submarine trips, with the announcement even teasing a trip to the moon. The game will come to both consoles and PC, but there's no indication yet of when to expect it.

The last game that Tintin starred in was the 2011 movie tie-in The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, which was published by Ubisoft. Like many movie tie-ins, the adaptation was lackluster. In GameSpot's 5/10 The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn review we said, "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is another game to add to the pile of movie tie-in games that missed that mark, and it's a failed opportunity to do something great with a well-loved character."
