A real-life aspiring designer has won a 3D vehicle-design contest sponsored by Atari for its upcoming racer Test Drive Unlimited. The "Be a Car Designer" promotional contest pitted more than 100 would-be racecar designers against one another to draw up a custom car model--the winning design to be included in Test Drive Unlimited. David Sichtermann, 28, from Los Angeles, beat out the competition, as judged by 6,500 online voters. Sichtermann's winnings are twofold: In addition to his design being included in the game, he will take home $2,500, which he says is reserved for school costs at the Art Center College of Design. To view Sichtermann's and others' designs, visit the contest's Web site.
