Tecmo announces SuperShot Soccer

The company behind the Dead or Alive series is creating a new soccer game for the PlayStation.

Tecmo has announced that it's currently working on a soccer game for the PlayStation called SuperShot Soccer. The game will supposedly differentiate itself from traditional soccer games available on the market because it will feature quick arcade-style gameplay and an over-the-top presentation. SuperShot Soccer will have 30 teams, and every team will have two or three unique super moves that are related to the team's country in some way. For example, China has a move called "The Great Wall" that involves all the players dropping down in front of the goal, while the French have a move that stuns opposing players with the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

"Super Shot Soccer is not your average soccer video game, it has a real kick to it," said John Inada, marketing director at Tecmo "The super moves are exaggerated, out of this world, and just plain wacky. It is a very solid and entertaining game that I think will attract an audience made up of both soccer fans and avid video game players alike."

SuperShot Soccer is scheduled for release in June to coincide with the World Cup.
