TeamSphere Replaces NetGames in CPL

The Cyberathlete Professional League finds a new game-stats service following the recent Microsoft acquisition of NetGames.

When Microsoft purchased the gaming-statistics service NetGames two weeks ago in order to integrate the technology into the Zone, the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) lost access to the stats-tracking service it had been using for its gaming events. The CPL has announced that TeamSphere's Eventricity service will replace NetGames in future events. TeamSphere already provides stats for a number of smaller league events, detailed at href="http://www.teamplay.netwww.teamplay.net

The CPL regularly holds competitive Quake III LAN events where players battle for cash and prize purses of up to US$100,000 per event. The league uses stats tracking so fans can follow the matches online. Angel Munoz, founder and president of the CPL, said, "We believe that our new long-term relationship will not only greatly enhance our live events but will also enhance the overall experience of our hundreds of thousands of online spectators."

The first CPL event to use TeamSphere stats will be Frag 4, which will be held in late September in Dallas, Texas.
