The NPD Group released its monthly video game sales report on Thursday, and it confirmed that the Nintendo Switch continues to dominate in the US, even despite the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The Switch--comprising the regular model and the Lite edition--combined to sell over 1.35 million units in the US during November. The Switch has now been the top-selling game console in the US for 24 straight months.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also released in November, but the Switch did better that both of them. Sony and Microsoft have not disclosed first-month sales for their new machines.

In 2020 alone, Nintendo has sold 6.92 million Switch consoles in the US. This is a very strong number, as it surpasses the total number of Switch systems sold in all of 2019 with one month to spare. Nintendo said Switch sales in 2020 are pacing ahead of 2019's figures by 426,000 units at this stage.

We're expecting more Nintendo news soon, as the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be announced during The Game Awards.
