The third week of Nintendo's ongoing eShop sale featuring Super Smash Bros. characters' games has begun, and this time around it's Pokemon, Metroid, and Wii Fit games that are discounted. Unfortunately, compared with the first two weeks, this week's selection is especially limited--there are fewer games on sale than there are playable characters from these three series in the new Super Smash Bros.

As far as Pokemon games go, you can get Pokemon Rumble U for $11, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity for $25, and Pokemon Battle Trozei (the newest game in this week's sale) for $5.50.

Metroid fans will only find the original Metroid itself as the one game on sale. $3.49 gets you the Wii U or 3DS version--there's no cross-buy support here, so you'll need to buy it twice if you want to have access to it on both platforms.

Finally, Wii U owners looking to get into shape can get the premium version of Wii Fit U for $20, a $10 savings over the regular version. You'll need a Balance Board (either from the original Wii Fit or by buying one separately) in order to play, and the digital version, as you can probably guess, doesn't come with the Fit Meter.

You can check out all of this week's deals (that's all of them above) in list form below, along with a preview of which characters' games will be discounted beginning next Thursday. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launches on October 3 (a demo arrives tomorrow), followed by the Wii U version later this year.

GOOD NEWS FOR SUPER SMASH BROS. FANS!!!

I have exclusive early access redemption codes for 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. demo to share for the first 3 lucky fans who redeem and download them. Each code below can be redeemed and downloaded once only. The codes expire today (Sep. 19, 14). Well, I received them on Sep. 12 for being Club Nintendo Platinum member, but I learnt about this a few minutes ago. So, enjoy ;D (for those of you who achieved the same status, please check you e-mail associated with Club Nintento account).

How can you have a Pokémon-related sale without the main series of games (X & Y)? Kinda pointless.

Nintendo's digital strategy is so far behind Sony and MIcrosoft it's mind boggling.

<< LINK REMOVED >> So true, they should realize that average gamers are smart enough to tell whether or not this is a good deals.

@TrueProphecy22 Oh, by the way, I have one recommendation for Nintendo. Here it is, it would be very kind of you, Nintendo, to have an option that allow Club Nintendo members to redeem their coins for some brand new digital games. It is reasonable since their hard-earned coins are normally pretty pricey to obtain if you ask me. Besides, digital games have so much limitation to use and no resell value at all.

Wow. Compared to the other weeks this one is far worse terrible. Couldn't even put the one Pokemon games worth having on sale and the only Metroid game they offer is the weakest of the bunch.

No Super Metroid? No Metroid Fusion? No Sero Mission? Only the incredibly dated original which is insanely difficult to play these days and controls nothing like the much better sequels?

<< LINK REMOVED >> Is Fusion and Zero mission in the Eshop somewhere? If not, then their exclusion makes sense. Super Metroid however....cmon Nintendo.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Fusion is on the Wii U eshop. You could only get Fusion on 3DS if you were an ambassador.

Selling characters in fighting games is my biggest pet peeve. Are the multi millionaire developers and publishers that broke that they have to sell characters instead of having them as unlocks? B.S.

<< LINK REMOVED >> 48(+3 Mii Fighters) characters, 20(?) un-lockable, and no DLC announced yet... Keyword being yet, Nintendo would be stupid not to have DLC in a SSB game.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Nintendo is not selling characters. They are putting games staring them on sale. Even if Nintendo does sale fighters as dlc eventually so what? Just because they are a multi million dollar ompany does not mean they can just front an insane amount of money on a single project and allow it an infinite amount of time to add 100 characters. Games have budgets and deadlines for a reason.

@ristactionjakso Not sure if I'm misunderstanding something here, but I believe they're currently discounting games featuring the characters on the SSB roster, and not selling the characters themselves. (Unless you were just commenting on the practice in general, in which case, I agree.)

I already bought Metroid, which was the only game I wanted anyway. I also have Fusion on the 3DS thanks to being an Ambassador.

All they have is the original Metroid? Kind of a slap in the face to Metroid fans but hey, that's what Nintendo has been doing for the past 4 years now
