Capcom has detailed the precise release dates for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, revealing that those buying the game for the first time will get it a little later than players upgrading from the existing version.

The confirmed in a Twitter post that both the physical and digital versions of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be available to purchase on PlayStation 4 on January 19. However, if you already have Street Fighter V, you'll be able to upgrade to Arcade Edition and begin playing from January 16.

The Steam release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, meanwhile, will also launch on January 16 regardless of whether you're buying for the first time or upgrading. Capcom has not yet provided an exact time for when the Arcade Edition upgrade patch will be available or when it will go live on Steam yet.

Capcom has not indicated there will be a similarly staggered launch for Arcade Edition in the US. We have asked the company for confirmation and will update this story when it is provided.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is a new version of Capcom's flagship fighting game that includes all the post-release content from Season 1 and Season 2 of the game, as well as a number of new gameplay changes. It will feature a total of 28 fighters, comprised of the original roster plus the DLC characters.

In terms of gameplay, Arcade Edition introduces a second V-Trigger for every character. This, according to Capcom, "will significantly change their playstyle." Also being added is a new Arcade Mode "ripe with nostalgia," an Extra Battle Mode, a gallery, and a redesigned user-interface. Further information on the new Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition content can be found here.
