Space Force, the highly-anticipated comedy by Steve Carrell and Greg Daniels, is now live on Netflix.

The series stars Steve Carrell as a four-star general trying to get a new Space-focused division of the US military off the ground. It also stars Lisa Kudrow, Ben Schwartz, Jon Malkovich, and many other well-known faces from television.

The show, which launched with ten thirty minute episodes, has been off to a rough start with critics. It currently has a 47% on Metacritic, GameSpot's sister site, with most critics calling the first season nothing short of a disaster.

“[Carell's] too good for the material, which never takes off," said the New York Times' Mike Hale. "The loony parts aren’t sharp enough, despite the efforts of Carell and crack performers like Noah Emmerich, Jane Lynch and Diedrich Bader.”

Greg Daniels, who is well known for his work on The Office, Parks and Recreation, and King of the Hill, told Collider in an interview that "it is a character comedy, and so we are trying to make it work for the long term," so hopefully the show is able to adjust going into later seasons.

Daniels did say he plans to adjust the show, much like he did for the first seasons of The Office and Parks and Recreation, based on audience reaction. However, creating a show for Netflix is different compared to NBC as all ten of the episodes are made and released at once. Daniels can't make adjustments from episode to episode as they shoot and air.

Netflix has already renewed the show for a second season, but its timeline is up in the air due to the pandemic.
