Now Playing: Pet Sematary - Official Trailer

The Stephen King adaptations keep on coming. While the horror legend's books and stories have been regularly turned into movies and shows over the decades, the last few years have seen even more than usual. There is much anticipation for It: Chapter Two next September, and ahead of that, a new adaptation of his classic 1983 novel Pet Sematary is due. The first trailer has now been released.

The movie focuses on a family who move into a new house near some typically spooky woods. There are stories about local kids who buried their dead pets in a makeshift cemetery (with a misspelt sign), and it soon becomes clear that there are some dark forces at work. King's novel is one of his darkest, scariest works, and it looks like the movie might be equally chilling. Check the trailer out above.

Pet Sematary stars Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), John Lithgow (The Crown, Dexter), and Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant, Stranger Things). It's directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, who previously helmed the acclaimed 2014 indie horror Starry Eyes, and it hits theaters on April 5, 2019. The first adaptation of Pet Sematary was released in 1989.

In related news, production has now finished on It: Chapter Two. The movie is set 30 years after the first film, and it follows the adult versions of the kids in the original. It's directed by Andy Muschietti once more, who marked the end of shooting with this behind-the-scenes image. It arrives on September 6, 2019.
