Steam's Winter Sale Has Begun

Earn trading cards by voting and browsing every day.

The leaked date was correct: Steam's Winter sale has officially gotten underway today and runs until January 2 at 10 AM PST.

As is often the case when a new sale begins, Steam's store is running a bit slowly at the moment. There isn't much to rush for, as this sale, like recent ones, doesn't feature flash deals or anything particularly time-sensitive. It's a straightforward sale, except you can earn two free trading cards every day by browsing through your discovery queue.

There are far too many discounts to list them all. Among the noteworthy ones are Doom for $20, Stardew Valley for $10, Planet Coaster for $38, Tyranny for $40.49, XCOM 2 for $30, Hyper Light Drifter for $12, Dirt Rally for $24, Total War: Warhammer for $45, Civilization VI for $54, Cities: Skylines for $7.49, and Rise of the Tomb Raider for $30. Some deals may not show up right away as Steam can be a bit slow to update in the immediate wake of the launch.

Coinciding with the sale, Valve has also officially kicked off The Steam Awards. Nominations for this began last month, and you'll now have the chance to vote for a winner in a different category each day. Voting earns you trading cards, with the winners set to be announced on December 31.
