Starfield Players Are Building Invincible Ships That Look Ugly As Hell

It's hip to be square.

Space is a hostile frontier in Starfield, full of pirates looking to plunder your cargo hold or local cops having an issue with your decision to take up a life of intergalactic highway robbery. Sooner or later, you'll end up on the receiving end of a barrage of lasers, but as some Starfield players have discovered, building ugly-as-hell spaceships makes you virtually immune to damage.

The first option, from redditor Morfalath (via Eurogamer) is a spaceship that looks like a Borg cube skeleton. Because the AI always aims for the middle of your spaceship, the solution here is to not have a middle to begin with. Instead, Morfalath created a gigantic structure of modules that's all corners, making dogfights in space a breeze to survive.

If you're not a fan of this square tactic, the second option is to construct a ship that looks like a giant L, as Solace_of_the_Thorns has done (via IGN). The trick here is that by creating the furthest possible point on the X, Y, and Z axis intersect, a new midpoint has been created that enemy AI will automatically target, firing off into empty space.

It's worth noting that this particular build works well when dealing with enemies coming straight at you, although the occasional stray shot can still find its mark. "This means that as you get closer to the enemy, they actually miss you more, which makes you monstrously good in a dogfight," Solace_of_the_Thorns explained.

This also means that you'll need to make a ship that's an aesthetic crime in Starfield's NASA-punk galaxy, but substance beats style every time. Starfield is now the biggest launch in the history of Bethesda Game Studios, surpassing over six million players in just a few days, and as players are discovering, there's no shortage of content to experience in this game. Players have so far discovered excellent potato physics, how to level up quickly by doing the devil's yoga, and how to print as much money as you want.
