Stardew Valley Multiplayer, Console Ports Confirmed

Cooperative multiplayer, console versions, and more content is planned for the farming and life simulator.

Stardew Valley has sold more than a million copies, and now developer Eric Barone (aka ConcernedApe) has announced that cooperative multiplayer, console versions, and more content are in the works for the farming and life simulator.

Barone will continue to work by himself on the design and content, while publisher Chucklefish will handle the technical side of the multiplayer and console ports, the developer announced on Stardew Valley's website. It's not been announced when the multiplayer will be released or what consoles the farming game will release on, but Barone notes they're "actively being worked on."

He also detailed "a substantial content update" in version 1.1, which is planned to add things like more late-game content, combat and mining improvements, and the ability to move buildings after they've been constructed. He noted that anything that's currently planned is subject to change.

Marriage has been a popular topic when it comes to Stardew Valley and its past updates, and Barone plans to add more candidates and content around holy matrimony. Shane and Emily are planned to be available to marry after the 1.1 update, and all spouses will get more content as well. Additionally, non-marriage NPCs are set to receive more events.

Farming will receive a bunch of new stuff, too. New farm buildings, crops, artisan goods, and advanced mechanics are all planned. The update will also see bug fixes, secrets, and "small, fun touches to the world."
