No Caption Provided Games come and go in the e-sports realm, but by far the most popular game has remained Starcraft. Particularly in the Korean market, Starcraft hit all the right notes and spawned several live TV stations dedicated to broadcasting tournaments played with Blizzard's popular real-time strategy game.

Given that the popularity of competitive Starcraft in e-sports has contributed to the continual success of the game throughout the last decade, it's not too surprising to see that Blizzard has just announced its first Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty tournament. Starting from September 10, Blizzard will be hosting the Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty 2010 Invitational Tournament, inviting players from Australia, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand to compete online.

Unfortunately, the tournament isn't open to just anyone. To compete, you'll have to be ranked within the top 16 players in the Southeast Asian servers on Battle.net to be selected. From there, players will be randomly seeded into a 16-player, double-elimination bracket. Once there are only four competitors left, they'll then face off for the glory on September 12.

Prizes include $3,000 in cash and invites to BlizzCon 2010. For more details on the Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty 2010 Invitational Tournament, check out the Starcraft II community blog.
