Spider-Man: No Way Home May Finally Be Dethroned At The Box Office This Weekend

After four weeks at the top of the box office charts, it looks like Spider-Man: No Way Home will finally be dethroned this coming weekend.

Paramount's new Scream movie opens on Friday, and it's expected to generate more than $20 million over the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend in the US. No Way Home, meanwhile, is estimated to make $16 million-$19 million, so it might be a close one. These numbers come from Collider.

No Way Home has remained number one since its release on December 17 in the US. Other big movies such as The Matrix: Resurrections and The King's Man could not dethrone it, but it appears Scream might finally do just that.

No Way Home has made more than $1.5 billion globally at the box office and now ranks as the eighth-biggest movie in the history of cinema worldwide. In the US alone, No Way Home has raked in more than $670 million.

The new Scream brings back series stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, and it's the first new entry in the series since 2011's Scream 4. GameSpot's Scream review scored the film a 9/10.

"The kills remain brutal, and sometimes more so than the previous movies, the humor remains self-referential and sarcastic, and the tension never eases up from the opening minutes through the violent climax. This is a Scream movie, through and through," Chris Hayner wrote.
