Now Playing: Spider-Man: Homecoming - First Official Trailer

The sequel to July 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming will debut in theaters on July 5, 2019, Sony has announced. That's a high-profile release window, as it's the Fourth of the July weekend in the US.

In terms of competition, July 5, 2019 is also the day that an untitled movie from Minions studio Illumination Entertainment comes out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement of the Homecoming 2 date came alongside news that it's moved up Bad Boys 4. The film is now expected to open on May 24, 2019; this is sooner than the first date, which was July 3, 2019. The next Bad Boys movie, Bad Boys for Life, comes out on January 12, 2018. Buckle up for a lot of Bad Boys, it seems.

Bad Boys 4's July 2019 debut puts it directly against the Minecraft movie from Warner Bros.

Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man. The first trailer premiered this week--watch it via the embed above.
