According to a recent update on Sammo Hung's official Web site, production on the upcoming feature film based on Namco's Dreamcast fighting game Soul Calibur has been pushed back to next year. The film's production was originally scheduled to begin later this year. The movie's producers are still courting acrobatic film star Jackie Chan, who is apparently on a tight schedule for the remainder of the year. Chan recently began shooting his latest film, titled Highbinders, in Ireland. The Soul Calibur film is currently on schedule to be released in summer 2003 and carries a preliminary budget of $50 million.
