Sony layoffs hit Driveclub, Killzone, and The Playroom developers

The economy of Japan is the third largest in the world by nominal GDP, the fourth largest by purchasing power parity and is the world's second largest developed economy. Moreover, Japan is the world's largest creditor nation, generally running an annual trade surplus and having a considerable net international investment surplus. As of 2010, Japan possesses 14% of the world's private financial assets - the 2nd largest in the world.

Also, Japan just like the US isn't totally devoid of 'planning' as much as we pretend to not fiddle with our economy like communist planning committees. Just as the US didn't allow GM to fail, Japan is not really going to allow Toyota, Mitsubishi or Sony to fail.

So, yeah, Sony might get smaller or get in or out of different industries...but it is NEVER going away.

You know in monopoly when you're in trouble and you land on a property with a hotel and you are liquidating everything to try to stay afloat? Selling off buildings, and selling property and trading off your stuff for money while keeping your one or 2 groups of property open because they might save you? Sony is in the middle of this.

Now the project lead for Drive Club just left. Something is up and it doesn't look too good.

They've lost $20-30 billion since 2005. The PS3 cost them nearly $6 billion alone. Maybe all of that money lost is catching up on them.

You guys can try and spin this any way you want. But, I would be just a little worried as a PS4 owner.

Personally I don't want Sony Microsoft or Nintendo do go,I want them to stay in the gaming industry for as long as possible because they each have something to offer for a different gaming community,personally I prefer more Nintendo than Sony or Microsoft,but I still play their games as well because they have 1st party games that I like to play and for that sole reason I want all three companies to stay in gaming industry.

SOny will turn it around. They might be just trimming fat. I am an Xbox Fan but I don't want to see the gaming world if any of the "big 3" go out (not saying any of them are)

sony...drop the vr headsets. who will play them? families? kids will fight over who uses it. its a fad. develop awesome games like TLOU. dont give them away, and just make cool stuff. oh, and your TV's suck compared to samsung. just being honest.
