Sonic Generations is one of the best-received Sonic games since the Blue Blur's legendary Genesis days, and now it's coming back with Shadow the Hedgehog's appearance. As part of the January 31 PlayStation State of Play presentation, Sega announced a remastered version of the 2D/3D platformer with playable levels as Shadow the Hedgehog.

Shadow the Hedgehog looks to be front and center with this remaster, which is titled Sonic x Shadow Generations. Shadow's levels seem to be more action-focused and similar in style and tone to 2005's Shadow the Hedgehog.

First released in 2011, Sonic Generations sees modern and classic incarnations of Sonic meeting each other. The game features a mix of modern 3D levels and 2D levels more reminiscent of the Genesis games. Alongside the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions, there was also a separate edition released on Nintendo 3DS.

The Sonic Generations remaster is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in Autumn 2024.
