Sonic Colors Ultimate is almost here. The remaster of the 2010 platformer releases September 7 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game originally released on Wii and Nintendo DS and was announced earlier this year as part of Sonic's 30th anniversary celebration. Sonic Colors: Ultimate is still available to preorder, and you can get a cute bonus by securing your copy ahead of release. Walmart is currently selling preorders at a discount, dropping the price for the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions to $34 (down from $40).

Physical edition console preorders for Sonic Colors: Ultimate come with a Baby Sonic keychain. Digital edition preorders come with an electric boost hailing from the Sonic movie and four player icons.

The Sonic Colors remaster is based on the Nintendo Wii version, which has both 3D action and side-scrolling sequences (the DS version was pure 2D side-scrolling). Sonic Colors follows the Blue Blur on an adventure to thwart (once again) Doctor Eggman's quest for world domination. Set in outer space, Sonic Colors sees Sonic visit numerous planets, racing and fighting his way through creative levels and boss battles. We awarded the original game an 8/10 in our Sonic Colors review. While Sonic has had an up and down history since its early '90s heyday, Sonic Colors is one of the better regarded Sonic games to release over the past 25 years.
