Snag The Witcher 3 Complete Edition For $17 And Get A Free PC Copy Too

There have been some great discounts on CD Projekt Red's critically acclaimed RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt lately, and especially if you've been considering picking up the game on PS4 or Xbox One, now's a great time to do so. Best Buy's Deal of the Day for today, June 17, features The Witcher 3's PS4 or Xbox One Complete edition for $17, down from its list price of $40. (Note: Amazon is now price-matching this deal as well.) That's a great deal on its own, but you can actually combine this offer with another ongoing promotion to snag a free copy of the game on PC.

Right now, GOG is giving away free copies of The Witcher 3 on PC to any current owners of the game on console or PC. Owners of the standard edition will receive just the base game, while owners of the Complete edition or Game of the Year edition (which both contain the same content) will receive the GOTY edition on PC. That means if you pick up The Witcher 3 while it's on sale at Best Buy today, you can then redeem it for a free PC copy as well. Considering the GOTY edition on PC normally sells for $50 on its own, getting both the console and PC premium edition for just $17 is a steal.

The Complete edition includes all the DLC for the game, and the GOG PC copy will come with added exclusive bonuses like a digital comic book, extended game soundtrack, and craftable paper toys. The PC copy of The Witcher 3 you receive will also be DRM-free, meaning you can download it and start playing immediately.

The Nintendo Switch Complete edition of The Witcher 3 is also on sale for a nice price at Best Buy, but unfortunately, it's not eligible for the free PC copy as GOG's Galaxy 2.0 launcher isn't compatible with Switch games. That said, the Switch version is still discounted to $40, $20 off its list price of $60.

Interestingly enough, all three copies of The Witcher 3's Complete edition on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch come with a free 30-day HBO Max trial, so that's a nice way to try out HBO's new streaming service if you're not already subscribed.

As a Deal of the Day, Best Buy's discounts are available through the rest of today or while supplies last. GOG's offer is available until June 23, so if you buy the game today, you should have plenty of time to receive it and claim the free PC copy in GOG's Galaxy 2.0 launcher, which is a platform that lets you link all your gaming accounts to maintain a single master library. To claim the free copy, you'll have to download Galaxy 2.0 if you don't have it, then connect whatever account you own the game on, whether that's PSN, Xbox Live, Steam, or another PC platform. Then, you can easily claim the freebie on the front page of the launcher.
