Not long ago, I mentioned Vijay Singh and his ascension to the number one golfer position in the world. In the back of my mind, I scoffed at the idea of a golf game with Singh on the cover, based on his controversial public persona. I wasn't alone in my thinking, as the comments from that particular post bear out.

Well, it turns out, I was wrong. There is a game out there which bears Singh's name and likeness: Vijay Singh Pro Golf 2005 for mobile phones. Based on our preview of the game, it looks to be a promising effort from the folks at Gameloft, with strong animations and a great map feature that accurately follows even the most errantly hit ball.

While I'm still not convinced that Singh is the best celebrity name for a golf game--especially when Jesper Parnavik is out there looking for an endorsement deal--the important thing is that the game plays well. If that's the case, then it doesn't matter whose name is on the cover. Stay tuned for our full review of this mobile title when it is released.
