Electronic Arts has announced that the PlayStation 2 version of The Sims has gone gold. Like its PC counterpart, players can create a virtual persona that will be tasked with finding a job, making friends, purchasing additional items for their homes, and generally completing normal, everyday tasks. The game also supports a multiplayer feature where one player can load their character from a memory card into another player's town for some two-player action.

The Sims is scheduled for release on January 14.
