Shazam 2's Zachary Levi Says You Should Stop Watching "Garbage" Hollywood Movies

Actor Zachary Levi has spoken out to say that Hollywood produces a lot of "garbage" content and he called upon people to make better choices when it comes to entertainment to help turn the tide. Levi recently starred in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was a box office flop.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Levi said at Chicago Fan Expo, "I personally feel like the amount of content that comes out of Hollywood that is garbage--they don't care enough to actually make it great for you guys. They don't."

Levi went on to say: "How many times do you watch a trailer and go, 'Oh my god, this looks so cool!' Then you go to the movie and it's like, 'This was what I get?'"

Also during his appearance at the Chicago Fan Expo, Levi said movie fans can encourage Hollywood executives to make different decisions by voting with their wallets and not going to see "garbage" content.

"They know that once you've already bought the ticket and you're in the seat, they've got your money," he said. "And the only way for us to change any of it is to not go to the garbage. We have to actively not choose the garbage. It'll help. It'll help a lot."

Fury of the Gods flopped at the box office, earning only $57 million in the US. Levi said in a previous interview that reviews from critics (49% on Rotten Tomatoes) were "oddly and perplexingly low," with some reviewers being "insanely unkind" to the film in his eyes. The audience score for the movie, meanwhile, was significantly better, boasting an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes

Levi maintains that Fury of the Gods is a "good darn movie."

This isn't the first time that Levi has made headlines for his comments. Earlier this year, Levi made anti-Pfizer comments, prompting a response from DC Studios boss James Gunn. He said he doesn't have to agree with someone to be in business with them.
